RULES AND REGULATIONS: 
1. Carefully READ all rules BEFORE completing the Entry Blank. 
2. Exhibitors are required to complete their own entry blanks previous to entry time. Closing date of entries will be August 13, 2008, 10:00 a.m. All items entered must be in place before that time. (Items will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, August 12, 2008, and from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Round Building on the Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds.) 
3. There will be a $1.00 entry fee per item for both non-professionals and for professionals. 
4. Judging will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Judging is closed. 
5. All articles must be accompanied by a completed official entry blank. All articles must have been made by the person entering the same, and the workmanship of all articles must have been completed within the last year. Items may not have been entered in the Arkansas Valley Fair in previous years. No one exhibitor will be allowed to enter more than one item in each class. Competition is open to all persons, male or female. 
6. Professionals may exhibit. 
A professional is defined as: 
• Someone who has taught a class for a fee in the area of their entry(ies). This does not include demonstrations. 
• Someone who has a degree in the area of their entry(ies). 
• Someone who has received personal income from the sale of work in the area of their entry(ies). 
• Someone who is a qualified judge for work in the area of their entry(ies). 
7. In judging, the general appearance, suitability to purpose, beauty, style, color, design, cleanliness and material used in the article will be considered as well as the finish and workmanship of the article. In those classes in which no competition exists or, if in the opinion of the judges, an article exhibited is not worthy of a first award, the judge may award second, third, or no award. A champion of each department will be awarded in the needlework division and in the quilt division if, in the opinion of the judges, an article is worthy. 
8. All articles must be a finished piece and any article soiled or defaced by wear is not eligible for exhibit or judging. 
9. CHECK OUT TIME - No exhibit will be released before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2008. (All entries must be removed by 4:00 p.m. on August 17, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS.) Not responsible for items not picked up. They will be left unattended in exhibit building. 
10. If there are enough similar items entered in any miscellaneous category to make a class, they will be judged separately. Decision is up to superintendents and judges. 
11. Because of limitation of space, we can guarantee only award winning entries display space.

12. Prize money in the amount of $25.00 will be awarded to the Grand Champion of each Division (Needlework and Quilt Divisions). Prize money in the amount of $15.00 will be awarded to the Reserve Grand Champion of each Division. Prize money in the amount of $5.00 will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion of each Department. All Needlework, Scrapbooks and Quilts will be combined for one People’s Choice award and the winner will receive $50.00 and a rosette. 
13. The public will vote for the entry of their choice for the “People’s Choice Award” from the opening of the Round Building Wednesday afternoon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th
ALL CARE POSSIBLE WILL BE USED TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF THE ENTRIES. HOWEVER, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THEY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGE DONE TO, OCCASIONED BY, OR ARISING FROM ANY ARTICLE ON EXHIBITION WHEN LEFT AFTER CHECK-OUT TIME. 
* CREATE YOUR OWN PATTERNS - It has to be an original design or instruction. It will be judged higher on originality and creativeness.

entered as a group effort quilt with all persons

C. The Superintendent reserves the right to 
reorganize quilt classes as deemed necessary. 
D. The judge will award prizes only to articles 
deemed worthy of merit.

ALL CLASSES ARE OPEN TO AMATEUR GARDNERS AND FLOWER ARRANGERS. AN EXHIBITOR MAY ENTER AS MANY CLASSES AS ARE LISTED. ONLY ONE ENTRY PER EXHIBITOR WILL BE ACCEPTED IN EACH CLASS. NO ENTREES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 2:30PM. ENTRIES MAY BE REMOVED SUNDAY, AUG. 17, 2-4PM

AWARDS: RIBBONS WILL BE GIVEN IN ALL CLASSES TO THE ENTRIES MERITED FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD. A POINT SYSTEM WILL BE USED WITH 5 POINTS FOR FIRST PLACE, 4 POINTS FOR SECOND AND 3 POINTS FOR THIRD PLACE. 
GRAND CHAMPION ROSETTE WILL BE AWARDED TO THE CONTESTANT ACCUMULATING MOST POINTS PLUS $20.00 CASH. RESERVE CHAMPION ROSETTE WILL BE AWARDED TO CONTESTANT WITH SECOND MOST ACCUMULATED POINTS PLUS $10.00 CASH. IN JUNIOR & CARE CENTER RESIDENT CATEGORIES 1ST - $3.00 CASH, 2ND-$2.00 CASH, 3RD-$1.00 CASH. 
 
SPECIEMEN ENTRIES WILL NOT COUNT AS POINTS TOWARD GRAND OR RESERVE CHAMPION AWARDS. 
 
PREPARATION OF EVENTS: THE FAIR BOARD CANNOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE TO LOSS OF PROPERTY, ALTHOUGH MAXIMUM CARE WILL BE TAKEN TO PROTECT THE POROPERTY OF EXHIBITORS. MATERIAL USED IN ARRANGEMENT CLASSES NEED NOT BE GROWN BY EXHIBITOR, EXCEPT IN SPECIMEN CLASS.
